Every time I pass this wonderful landmark that sits in the centre of our City, this is what I envision on its surfaces. I picture an opportunity to bring the first of its kind in North America. Imagine driving/walking by as you spot people scaling the tower walls!
The abandoned hotel in the photo above was turned into an adventure thrill park in Germany. It stands as the only building to have tourist access passage across the exterior walls.
The Hollinger Headframe would be the only building in North America to allow such via ferrata/airtrek passage to tourists, be the only House-Running experience in North America (Run/Jump Down the walls face down), offer a unique skyfall down the side of a winding tower and allow a never-before seen means of exploring an old mine, including repelling down an actual shaft (skips).
THE PROJECT
We've proven with our Timmins Fitness Alternatives business success that Timmins can have the same access as the bigger cities! Through our one-stop shop of aerial, land and water fitness/sport experiences, Timmins now has opportunities that would normally only be accessible in travels to major cities or international destinations.
WE ALSO BELIEVE IN WHAT TIMMINS CAN OFFER THAT THE BIG CITIES DON'T HAVE ACCESS TO. WE AIM TO HELP INCREASE TIMMINS' OVERALL VISITATION/TOURISM.
With a goal to transform the unoccupied 196 foot headframe of the historic Hollinger Gold Mine (which was operational between 1910 and 1968) into a top tourist destination in Northern Ontario, the business will attract provincial, national and international visitors who will be drawn to the area by the opportunity to overcome their limits, explore unique artistic expressions, learn culinary, horticultural and digital skills, and experience historical and heritage adventures that are full of possibility.
This project was moving full-force before the CoVid 19 halt. Because the Pandemic forced us to reconsider the future of Timmins Fitness Alternatives and invest in a time-sensitive physical location, we no longer hold the capital available for what our Grants require us to. We can either hold off on this project longer to slowly recover our invested capital (possibly risk losing the grants) or use this as an opportunity to open this project to a partnership or strategic investor (or group of investors) who can help this see the light much quicker.
We want to help boost Timmins' economy in ways that also make it a place people are proud of and want to be in. The more we can do to increase tourism, the better experiences our local businesses will be able to create and provide.
